The District Manager

Monday, May 31, 2004
I called Daimler Chrysler Customer Service and spoke with a customer service manager (Patty) to inquire about the report from the district manager on my vehicle. She told me that the report indicates that the roof is repaired and that the vehicle should be returned to customer. The case is closed.

I asked her about Phil's findings of mold, mildew, rust, or corrosion and she indicated that Phil's report makes no mention of any of this. What!?!!? How is it possible that the district manager can close my case without actually reviewing the items that I am complaining about? I understand that the roof is probably repaired. That's not my concern. My concern is about the damage caused by the numerous leaks.

I asked if I could speak to Phil and she tells me that "Phil does not speak with customers". She says that she can e-mail him and ask him about my concerns. I agreed and asked her to do that. She also says that she'll ask him to call me but that it is unlikely that he will.

I had an independent appraiser examine my vehicle. He found several indications that there had been significant amounts of water inside the vehicle. While he does not have the equipment to test conclusively for mold or mildew, he did find several areas where he was quite certain it was present. He also found extensive interior rust and significant amounts of corrosion on wires inside the front dash.

I called Daimler Chrysler Customer Service (Tony) and explained that I was waiting for information back from the district manager re: my concerns of mold, mildew, rust, and corrosion and why his report made no mention of these. Tony looked up the district manager's response and read it to me. In it, it claims that he was not asked by Bill, the service manager at MacIVER Dodge, to look for these things. Phil was only asked to review the repairs to the roof. What!??!! How is this possible? How can the Bill not know that our concerns are about the mold, mildew, rust, and corrosion? We've only been at his dealership complaining of these issues to him every second day for almost a month!!! I called MacIVER (completely irate) and talked to Frank (General Manager). He talked with Bill.

Bill claims that he certainly did tell Phil about the mold/mildew/rust/corrosion concerns and that Phil responded by saying that he wasn't qualified to look at those issues. So, Phil looked at the roof and closed the case based on the fact that the roof was repaired. So, we have two completely different stories. I don't care which one is true. I'm used to being lied to by now. All I want is my case re-opened so that my actual concerns can be addressed.
